About the Authors
Author
Vicki Wood received her master's
degree in history from Marshall University and has
completed postgraduate work in history, curriculum and
administration. She is a curriculum specialist for Kanawha
County Schools, focusing on social studies, integrated
strategies and thinking skills. She developed the
curriculum for a new consolidated high school and served
on a high school restructuring task force. She is the
author of To Establish Justice, a history of the United
States from 1850 to 1900, and a contributing author of 4th
Star, an integrated United States-Georgia history
textbook. She has published articles and book chapters on
various historical topics. In 1994, Mrs. Wood was awarded
an honorary Golden Horseshoe for her contributions to the
study of West Virginia history.
