PAUL A. HORNE, JR., is on the staff of the South Carolina Education Oversight Committee. Born in Lancaster and raised and educated in the public schools of North Carolina, Dr. Horne earned a B.A. degree in history from Davidson College. He earned a M.A. and a Ph.D. in history from the University of South Carolina with a concentration in colonial America and legal history. While at the University of South Carolina, Dr. Horne began teaching at Dreher High School in Columbia. Dr. Horne has served as a consultant for many organizations, including the South Carolina Bar Association’s Law Related Education Division and South Carolina Educational Television. He is the Executive Director of the South Carolina Council for the Social Studies and has served on the Board of Directors for the National Council for the Social Studies. He is the author of numerous publications and journal articles.
